Canaan Valley and Blackwater Falls are West Virginia high country a 3200 ft glacial valley with spruce forest and bogs that feels more like Canada than West Virginia. Blackwater Falls in winter with ice formations is one of the most beautiful winter sights in the eastern US. Seneca Rocks and Spruce Knob the highest point in WV are nearby. Last Appalachian stop before turning west toward Idaho for the return leg.
